Alexander S. - 2020年 06月 21日 The song “Fever” is both the opening track of the album, both its title track and at the same time the cornerstone and heart of the entire new Balthazar album. It is he who creates the sound and vibe of the album and holds together all the songs of the album, depicting the whole picture. A unique phenomenon for the first track. But, given the scale of the track, this is not very surprising. At the same time, listen to what is happening in it. There is the first part of the song, which would completely go down to a separate song by itself, there is an excellent catchy chorus, but then the instruments begin to change, the pulsation changes, the rhythm plunges more and more into that “explosion” that breaks the track in half, but as a result, this “explosion” loops and merges into all other parts of the song, which alternate almost randomly and which, in general, should not be combined. Purely technically and from the point of view of composition, this is really a masterpiece, which you simply will not meet anywhere else. But Balthazar did not stop there, again abruptly changing the pulsation, again breaking the track, again looping a new “explosion”, leaving the main parts of the track with its blast wave. Such songs happen once in eternity.
And then each song of the album absorbed some piece of the shattered “Fever”. They are all different, everyone has different moods, different dances, different authors, but they all have a common parent: “Fever”. In fact, his fragments gained life, embodying in absolute terms the parts of the ideas “Fever” entrusted to them. “Fever” became a pack, the same pack of wild dogs from the album cover.
By the way, purely musically, in all these comparisons, there are no problems either. The blues of Devoldere simply returned to its historical roots, traditions and mysteries, and the dance rhythms of Depre turned to the ritual dances of Africa. Nothing new, just a small turnover of what already happened - and everything fell into place, the sound, finally, Balthazar found itself.
