 | | Description: | Digitally remastered two CD set containing a pair of albums from the reggae legend plus bonus tracks. Having first demonstrated his budding singing skills on stage as a precocious youth in the late '60s, Dennis Brown achieved considerable success as a recording artiste, cutting a series of popular singles for many of the most prominent producers within the Jamaican recording industry. But it was his collaborations with Winston 'Niney' Holness that catapulted the aspiring singer-songwriter into the reggae firmament. Under the auspices of the young producer, Brown enjoyed a run of local chart hits that included some of the most enduringly popular recordings in the history of Jamaican music, the first of which were gathered on the 1975 Trojan LP, Just Dennis. The following year, Niney showcased many of the singer-songwriter's most popular subsequent works on a second collection, Deep Down, which saw issue on his own Observer imprint. Both of these hugely important collections feature on this essential set, the contents of which is further bolstered by the remainder of Brown's work with Niney from the '70s and DJ cuts of some of his biggest hits performed by a number of Jamaica's most influential toasters, notably Big Youth, Dillinger and I Roy.On back cover:
'The Crown Prince of Reggae's two widely acclaimed mid-Seventies albums for producer Winston 'Niney' Holness, plus the remainder of their celebrated collaborations from the golden age of reggae roots.'
