â??Terrible Animalsâ??, aufgenommen 2018 in New York, war das fÃ¼nfte Album des norwegischen Gitarristen Lage Lund fuÌ?r Criss Cross Jazz und es ist bis heute sein gewagtestes und ambitioniertestes. DafÃ¼r hatte sich der heute 45-JÃ¤hrige mit einer so noch nie dagewesenen Rhythmusgruppe aus drei New Yorker Spitzenmusikern umgeben: dem Pianisten Sullivan Fortner, dem Bassisten Larry Grenadier und dem Schlagzeuger Tyshawn Sorey. Mit auÃ?ergewÃ¶hnlicher KreativitÃ¤t navigierte das Quartett durch zehn Eigenkompositionen des Meisters an der Gitarre. Das Werk erscheint nun erstmals auf Vinyl, remastert vom Toningenieur der Aufnahme, Mike Marciano. -

Terrible Animals is perhaps the most compositionally ambitious and daringly performed of Lage Lund's five albums on Criss Cross. Joined by a never-before-convened, top-of-the-pyramid rhythm section (Sullivan Fortner, piano; Larry Grenadier, bass; Tyshawn Sorey, drums) the 39-year-old presents ten far-flung originals that elicit the full measure of their creativity over the 68-minute program, spurring Lund, who makes ingenious use of effects within his flow, to some of his most dynamic and varied playing on record.
