Eugene S. - 05/May/2025 5 of 5 Stars!
The twelfth studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth. Endgame entered the Billboard 200 at number nine, and reached number one on the U.S. I recommend.

Thrash is alive! And as long as there are Megadeth, this style will live on. In general, the activity of the old people makes me happy - last year Testament and Metallica gave excellent releases, and this year Mustaine and the company, and from Slayer, will not wait long for a new album. Actually, I'm surprised at Megadeth's talent. It would seem that in our time everything has long been played-replayed and it is somehow naive to wait for something fundamentally new and original. But Megadeth refutes this, especially with the latest albums, stamping masterpieces as if they were a selection. It is worth a lot - to be on stage for two and a half decades, while not losing relevance and not getting lost in self-copying. Svezhachok "Endgame" is a surprisingly versatile and interesting album. This was largely due to the arrival of Chris Broderick, who certainly brought some of his ideas to the group, and, of course, the manner of performance. The solos are amazing, maybe the last time I enjoyed this important element of metal so much was on "The Blackening" by Machine Head. But unlike the Heads, Megadeth is not addicted to unnecessarily slow tempo in songs. In fact, there is only one more or less sluggish thing here, "The Hardest Part of Letting Go ... Sealed With A Kiss". In general, the acoustic guitar and Dave's lyric vocals surprised me here. The vocals, by the way, I cannot criticize with all my desire, it is much better than it was in the 80s and 90s. Or maybe it's just that recording and mixing technologies have advanced a lot? In any case, it would be interesting to hear the whole thing live. As always, the set of riffs written and recorded by dudes is also interesting to study - they are quite diverse, moderately complex and very driving and groovy (ha-ha, even the semblance of a verse of some kind came out). I would like to mention the songs "Bite the Hand" and "Bodies Left Behind". The latter is especially pleasing, with the transition from a slow melodic piece to a thrash cutter, the acceleration there is amazing, the energy is incredible. If I had a hat, I would take it off in front of the musicians, they once again proved that they are not just masters, but geniuses of their craft. One of the best albums this year. Interesting, technical, melodic, very varied and interesting, and also groovy.
