| | Yuriy P. - 2020年 12月 21日 Great album. It should be admitted that Megadeth has always released smooth and high-quality material, and even experimenting with sound, the group has always kept a high level of professionalism and skill, both as a composer and performing artist. Fortunately, the creative activity of the collective does not decrease, and the team can still please fans with its new musical works.
The thirteenth album of the group fully proves this statement. The external design of the disc is imbued with the spirit of mysticism and mystery, which is in perfect harmony with the musical component. The gloomy cover attracts the listener with its unusual aura, setting him up in a very serious mood. I would call the general atmosphere of the album mystical with thriller elements. Its very name - "TH1RT3EN" - already prompts thoughts of some devilry.
Let's move on to the music content of the album. To begin with, it should be noted that the return of the most experienced bass player David Ellefson to Megadeth had a positive impact on the band's work. The whole team works as a single mechanism - clearly and harmoniously. The compositions are worked out in detail to the smallest detail, recorded very professionally and with high quality. It's hard to find fault with the sound of the album. Mustaine's vocals have become tougher and more aggressive, which I would attribute to the pluses, because, unfortunately, he does not possess the ability to sing as such. His path, as the previous reviewer correctly noted, is the "furious talking shop." Something, but Dave's malicious growl can be very convincing. Better so. Well, the leader of Megadeth is not deprived of composing talent - that's for sure. The musical material on the album is rich and varied. It looks like it's all sewn together from impressive riffs and melodies into one canvas with bizarre patterns in the form of guitar solos. Each song is individual and has its own charming aura. I must admit that the more I listen to this album, the more I like it, although the first time I did not impress at all. "TH1RT3EN" needs to be tasted. The disc contains obvious hits. For example, "Public Enemy No. 1", evoking the spirit of the United States of the 20s - 30s of the last century, "Never Dead", "Black Swan" and the dark composition "13". The rest of the songs are also very strong and definitely deserve attention. I don't even know which of them can be singled out especially, since all of them were undoubtedly successful for the group.
