Extra-Infos: .. And Three
Description:Lines is a trilogy of song cycles inspired by poetry, focusing on three female perspectives across time - writer Emily Brontë, World War One poets, and British Hull fishing worker Lillian Bilocca. Available as 'medium play' records on 10" vinyl, CD and download, they can be bought separately or together in an unshouty slipcase. - .. AND THREE
Lines is a trilogy of song cycles, with very different subjects but each inspired by poetry and focused on a different female perspective. The Lines in Part One-Lillian Bilocca, a campaigner for fishermen's rights, were written by actor Maxine Peake and turned into song by Adrian McNally; The Lines in Part Two-World War One were originally written in 2014 for a project marking the opening year of the World War One centenary. The Unthanks decided to record and release them in this, the final year; The Lines in Part Three-Emily Bronte, feature a collection of Emily Brontë poems, turned into songs by Yorkshire-born Unthanks pianist and composer Adrian McNally and played on Emily's own piano in the Parsonage in Haworth where she lived and worked. This special slip-cased 3cd set contains all three volumes, performed by Rachel & Becky Unthank (voice), Adrian McNally (piano, voice) along with guests Niopha Keegan (violin, harmonium, voice; Chris Price (bass, lap steel, voice); Martin Douglas (drums); Sam Lee & Tim Dalling (voice); Ben Lee, Chrissie Slater, Gemma Kost (strings).
Cardboard box including three gatefold card sleeves; discs in inner picture-sleeves. "Lines is a trilogy of song cycles inspired by poetry. The lines were mostly turned into song by Unthanks pianist Adrian McNally and performed and arranged by Rachel and Becky Unthank, with other Unthank regulars and guests including Sam Lee and Tim Dalling. Ranging from 21 to 33 minutes long, these records are longer than the EP, shorter than Long Players, these records are, if you will, Medium Players. We hope you enjoy them. The lines for part one were written by Maxine Peake and originally featured in a site specific theatre event about the Hull triple trawler disaster in which 58 men lost their lives. The lines for part two are predominately taken from poems and letters from World War One. The lines for part three features the poems of Emily Brontë, turned into song, written and recorded on her original piano." ? &© 2018 Several songs on disc 1 and 2 recorded in Unthanks studio in Northumberland; disc 3 recorded at The Parsonage in Haworth, West Yorkshire, UK (Emily Brontë's home). Printed in the EU.
