Description: | On her first Warner Classics album pianist Mariam Batsashvili combines solo works by Franz Liszt â?? a figure of special significance for her â?? and his contemporary Frédéric Chopin. She left her native Georgia to study at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Weimar and gained international recognition in 2014 when she won the 10th Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Chopin was just a year older than Liszt and the two became good friends in Paris. The two pianist-composers are, as Batsashvili explains, â??very, very different in the way they express themselves, but I can hear in their music that they respected each other greatly.â? - The CD "Chopin/Liszt" by Mariam Batsashvili, released under the prestigious PLG Classics label, is a captivating journey through the romantic piano repertoire. This album showcases Batsashvili's exceptional artistry as she interprets masterpieces from two of the most influential composers for piano: Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt. The selection highlights both lyrical poetry and virtuosic brilliance, offering listeners an immersive experience into 19th-century musical expression. Mariam Batsashvili has rapidly gained international acclaim since winning the 10th Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht and being named a BBC New Generation Artist. Her performances are celebrated for their emotional depth and technical finesse. PLG Classics is renowned for its commitment to high-quality classical music productions, consistently supporting outstanding artists who bring fresh perspectives to timeless works. |
