Description: | Pianist McCoy Tyner (age 80 at this writing) is the last
surviving member of the legendary John Coltrane
Quartet. He recorded over 80 albums between his
1962 debut LP as a leader, Inception (presented
here in its entirety), and his most recent release,
Solo â??Live from San Francisco (2009). Tyner won
five Grammy Awards, and considerably broadened
the horizons of the genre, blending modal jazz and
fusion, hard bop and free jazz. Inception presents
the John Coltrane Quartet rhythm section of that
period, with Art Davis on bass, and Elvin Jones
on drums, and reviews at the time it was released
mentioned that it was like a Coltrane disc without
Coltrane. - VITAL VINYL JAZZ / 180GR.Vinyl LP pressing.
