Descripción:The Gathering is a Dutch alternative rock band founded in 1989 by brothers Hans and René Rutten and vocalist Bart Smits. The early incarnation of the band featured a much more death and doom metal-based style than the more atmospheric rock and experimental music which they became known for over the years, having enjoyed a highly successful career globally to date. The band recorded 2 demos initially before making their studio debut with 'Always...' (1992).'Almost a Dance' was the second studio album by the band, released originally in 1993 on Foundation 2000 Records. The album was produced by Tom Holkenborg who became famous as Junkie XL. "Almost A Dance", el segundo álbum de estudio del grupo holandés The Gathering lanzado en 1993 y ahora disponible en formato CD por parte de Peaceville, representa una evolución clave en el sonido de la banda al fusionar rock atmosférico con elementos progresivos e incorporar las voces frescas de Niels Duffhues y Martine van Loon como nuevos miembros destacados del grupo durante esta etapa experimental reflejada en temas como ?On a Wave?, ?The Blue Vessel? o ?Her Last Flight?. Reconocidos como pioneros dentro del metal atmosférico internacionalmente gracias también a discos posteriores como ?Mandylion? o ?Nighttime Birds?, su estilo ha influenciado profundamente la escena musical alternativa europea y mundial hasta hoy día. El sello británico Peaceville Records fue fundado en 1987 y es sinónimo de calidad dentro del ámbito alternativo (doom/gothic/death), habiendo editado trabajos emblemáticos para bandas legendarias tales como My Dying Bride o Katatonia.
