Back in 1997, in a remote town of Joensuu, beyond the great vast forests of eastern Finland, some teenage metalheads got together to play loud and fierce music, drink beer and have fun. Little did they knew that two decades later they would be saluted as one of the spearheads of their genre, preparing to release their 8th studio album and embark on another world tour.
Consisting of 10 songs and over an hour of music the new masterpiece of the melodic death metal masters, â??Heart Like a Graveâ?, evolved to be an epic tour de force of Finnish melancholy, drawing inspiration from some of the bleakest tales, lyrics and poems of the north. Now with four composers in the band the sound of Insomnium is now richer and more versatile than ever before. And yet the essence and core of the music is the same as 22 years ago. The tree grows new branches but the roots go deeper into the black, rimed soil. - 2019 release from Finnish melodic death metal masters Insomnium. Consisting of 10 songs and over an hour of music, the disc evolved to be an epic tour de force of Finnish melancholy. Jens Bogren was responsible for the mixing and mastering and made Heart Like A Grave the best-sounding Insomnium album ever.Drums recorded at SF Sound Studio.

A sensation confirmed by this last album and that you feel right away, with 'Valediction', whose opening words show their muscles as, perhaps, it never was. Then, the typical brand of Joensuu's combo takes over and, between majestic choirs and clean vocals, unravels the roll where the basic stylistic dictates are written on a hard, powerful, massive but also soft, dreamy, deeply sound and visionary images. That's Insomiun's majesty, endorsed by the power of being genuine painters inspired by the legendary Thousand Lakes. Twilight trails is the peak of the tracklist, but each step before this (the fast paced Mute is my sorrow, or the bitter sweet Pale Morning Star) is made of dark autumnal golden rays.
