Tony Joe White war ein einflussreicher Musiker in der Swamp Rock-Szene der 60er und 70er Jahre. Als einer der Schöpfer dieses Sounds, erlangte er rasch Bekanntheit unter Musikfans. Er nahm in dieser Ã?ra zahlreiche Hits wie "Rainy Night In Georgia" und "Polk Salad Annie" auf. Diese exklusive "Collected"-Doppel-LP enthält seine Musik aus den 60ern bis in die 2000er Jahre. Besondere Höhepunkte sind Duette mit verschiedenen Künstlern und Wegbegleitern, die das reichhaltige Repertoire und das breitgefächerte Talent des Künstlers zeigen. Nachdem White 1967 seinen ersten Plattenvertrag unterschrieb, nahm er mehrere Singles auf. 1969 landete "Polk Salad Annie" auf Platz 8 in den US-Charts; der Durchbruch für den Künstler. In den späten 60er Jahren nahm er mehrere Alben und andere Musiker begannen, seine Songs zu covern (Dusty Springfield "Willie and Laura Mae Jones", Brook Benton "Rainy Night in Georgia" als Beispiele). Diese Coverversionen gaben White einen weiteren Popularitätsschub. In den 90er und 00er Jahren nahm er mehr Klassiker wie "Ain't Going Down This Time" und "(You're going to) Look Good In Blues" auf. As one of the creators of this sound he recorded different hit songs, like 'Rainy Night In Georgia' and 'Polk Salad Annie'. The Collected title covers his music from the '60s until the '00s, including duets with different artists. After Tony signed his first contract in 1967 he recorded multiple singles without success. In 1969 'Polk Salad Annie' charted in the U.S., reaching #8. He recorded multiple albums in the late 1960s early 1970s. As he became more popular other musicians started covering his songs, like Dusty Springfield's 'Willie and Laura Mae Jones' and Brook Benton's 'Rainy Night in Georgia'. Both songs charted as cover versions and made him a well-known artist. During the 1990s and 2000s he recorded more albums and singles, including classics like 'Ain't Going Down This Time' and '(You're Gonna) Look Good In Blues'.
