For more than a thousand years, those liturgical songs have been sung by the Monks from Monastery every dusk. Those hymns are part of the traditional repertoire of the Byzantine ecclesiastical Chant. The melodies are composed by a Monk from Monastery of Simonos Petra. Simonos Petra is one of the twenty Monasteries from Athos. Athos is a unique place on earth where Monasteries audaciously stand up between the ground and the sky Founded in the 13th century, more than 60 Monks are living there.
