Description: | Ernani by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, released 20 February 2020.
This version of Ernani comes as a 2xCD. - CAPELLA AQUILEIA/MARCUS BOSCH/SUNG KYU PARKA "grandiose and yet passionate libretto" Verdi wanted to put into music according to his own statement. Verdi's first setting of a drama by Victor Hugo (Hernani ou l'honneur castillan), written in 1843, fascinates listeners with the close interlocking of the formerly individual "numbers" to form a structural unity and the further perfected depth of the figure drawing - including it's merciless destruction at the end. Ernani is nevertheless not one of the greatest public hits such as Nabucco or La Traviata - like the other three early Verdi operas published in recent years by Marcus Bosch and the Cappella Aquileia. Bosch shows that even the supposedly somewhat weaker works of the great opera genius have their special charms. In Ernani's case, this is once again a highly convincing success: Marcus Bosch, the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and the Cappella Aquileia, together with a hand-picked ensemble of singers, turn the first large piece of world literature from Verdi into an intensive music-drama experience. The "Ernani - Opera in 4 Acts" SACD+CD set presents Giuseppe Verdi's dramatic masterpiece, performed by the acclaimed artists Park, Bosch, Cappella Aquileia, and the Czech Philharmonic Choir. This high-resolution audio release from Coviello captures every nuance of Verdi?s passionate score with exceptional clarity and depth. The combination of SACD and CD formats ensures both audiophiles and traditional listeners can enjoy this powerful opera at its best. Coviello is renowned for their commitment to superior sound quality and artistic excellence in classical music recordings. Soprano Hye-Young Park has garnered international acclaim for her expressive voice; conductor Marcus Bosch is celebrated for his insightful interpretations; Cappella Aquileia stands out as a dynamic ensemble specializing in historically informed performances; while the Czech Philharmonic Choir brings rich choral textures that have earned them numerous awards across Europe. |
