 | | Description: | There are several Chet Baker albums with the title Chet Baker Sings, but this one recorded for Pacific Jazz in 1954 and 1956 is the original, and arguably, the best. The album features Chetā??s indelible vocals and sterling trumpet playing with two different quartet line-ups both featuring pianist Russ Freeman on a set of classic standards that he made his own including ā??My Funny Valentine,ā? ā??That Old Feeling,ā? and ā??I Fall In Love Too Easily.ā? For the first time in more than 60 years, this definitive edition was cut from the original master tapes in the correct order with pristine fidelity. The gatefold packaging includes additional session photography by William Claxton.

Chet Baker Sings is the debut vocal album by jazz musician Chet Baker, originally released in 1954.The 2020 original Tone Poet version can be differentiated from the 2023 repress version in two ways. The Tone Poet hype sticker on the 2020 version version states:
"Mastered from the original analog tapes"
The 2023 version states:
"Cut directly from the original analog tapes"
Also, on the hype sticker, the 2020 version does NOT have the text "STDLTNPCUT" found on the 2023 version.
On the vinyls the two versions differ on the matrix#. The gatefold cover is identical.

Despite what is described both on spine ("stereo") and on labels (matrix numbers "ST.xxx5/6"), the record is definitely mono. Joe Harley himself says that in an interview (see source on sub history):
