Compared to their prior albums, Human II Nature musically in some ways resembles EFMB, but seems even more mellow overall though it does have its more upbeat moments, like in the second song Noise. Aside from the more vocal parts, it seems to chug along at a steady pace with a lot of orchestration throughout.

The single "Noise" is killer though it is a bit of an outlier: Jansen, possessed of one of the largest ranges in rock, channels the band's original vocalist Tarja Turunen here ecstatically. She is accompanied by a rubbery bassline, forceful piano crescendoes, blastbeat tom toms, and bass voiced chorale.
