Description: | Old and New Worlds is the result of an international collaboration between Ars Veritas (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Schola Cantorum (Miami University, Oxford, Ohio). It features great choral works of the past and the present. Ensemble Ars Veritas started in 2010 at the University of Stage and Music in Gothenburg. Jakob Patriksson led the work on creating an ensemble focusing on early church music and the sacred music it later inspired. One of the hallmarks of Ars Veritas is the concerts that gradually illustrate the evolution of Western European church music: from the sacred unanimous Gregorian music to the first completely independent polyphonic works."Old & New Worlds / Various" is a captivating CD release from Centaur, offering listeners an intriguing journey through diverse musical landscapes. This compilation brings together works that bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, featuring pieces that reflect both historical influences and contemporary creativity. The album showcases a rich tapestry of styles?ranging from classical to modern compositions?providing an immersive listening experience for music enthusiasts who appreciate variety and depth in their collections. As a mixed-artist recording, "Old & New Worlds" emphasizes the stylistic breadth rather than focusing on individual performers, making it ideal for those seeking to explore new sonic territories.
Centaur Records is renowned for its dedication to high-quality classical recordings and its commitment to presenting both established masterpieces and lesser-known gems. Founded in 1976, Centaur has built a reputation as one of America's oldest independent classical labels, consistently delivering expertly curated albums with exceptional sound quality. |
