Beschreibung:We continue our highly popular and successful America's Greatest Hits series as we work back through the 1950s, now reaching the point at the turn of the decade, this time with an expanded 4-CD edition to sit alongside the existing single CD 1950 edition (ACRCD176) originally released in 2006 before we introduced the 4-CD format in recent years. This great-value 104-track collection comprises every record which charted in the Top 15 of the Billboard Best Sellers and Honor Roll Of Hits and the Top 10 in the Cash Box chart during 1951. It omits certain records which peaked in 1951and which have already appeared in our America's Greatest Hits 1951 collection and some which were big hits in 1949, and had already peaked, so will appear in that collection. As with all these collections it features all the biggest hits of the year and all the biggest names in American pop of that era, at a time when the USA was emerging from post-war austerity into a more optimistic decade but was about to become embroiled in the Korean War, and it very much captures the spirit of the times. It also includes a number of lesser known records which are not heard very often and which have not been readily available on CD. As always, it includes a substantial 15,000-word booklet with a commentary on every track, and it's a must for collectors of our completist chart-based anthologies., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Liner Notes: Paul Watts (4), Research, Compiled By [Acrobat Chart]: Bruce Herbert (2), Orchestra: Gordon Jenkins And His Orchestra, Written-By: Irving Kahal, Written-By: Sammy Fain, Backing Band: Perry Botkin's String Band, Backing Vocals: The Jud Conlon Rhythmaires, Written-By: Bob Hilliard, Written-By: Sammy Fain, Backing Band: Perry Botkin's String Band, Written-By: Fred Glickman, Written-By: Hy Heath, Written-By: Johnny Large, Orchestra: Harry Zimmerman And His Orchestra, Written-By: Bob Hilliard, Written-By: Sammy Fain, Backing Vocals: 4 Hits And A Miss, Orchestra: Sonny Burke And His Orchestra, Written-By: Beasley Smith, Written-By: Haven Gillespie, Orchestra: Skip Martin And His Orchestra, Written-By: Bob Russell, Written-By: Louis Alter, Orchestra: Mitch Miller & His Orchestra, Written-By: Beasley Smith, Written-By: Haven Gillespie, Orchestra: Paul Weston And His Orchestra, Written-By: Al Hoffman, Written-By: Jerry Livingston, Written-By: Mack David, Written-By: Guy Hall, Written-By: Henry Kleinkauf, Written-By: Jack Lawrence (2), Orchestra: Roy Ross And His Orchestra, Written-By: Deacon Anderson, Written-By: Johnnie Lee Wills, Backing Vocals: The Girl Friends, Orchestra: Ted Dale And His Orchestra, Written-By: Kim Gannon, Written-By: Mabel Wayne, Written-By: Harry Stone, Written-By: Jack Stapp, Vocals [Vocal Duet]: Dottie Dillard, Vocals [Vocal Duet]: Jack Shook, Written-By: Alton Delmore, Written-By: Henry Glover, Written-By: Rabon Delmore, Written-By: Wayne Raney, Chorus: Phil Harris, Written-By: Beasley Smith, Written-By: Haven Gillespie, Orchestra: Henri René And His Orchestra, Written-By: Eddie Pola, Written-By: George Wyle, Backing Band: The Dixieland All Stars, Musician: Cutty Cutshall, Musician: Eddie Safranski, Musician: Ernie Caceres, Musician: George Wettling, Musician: Jack Pleis, Musician: Max Kaminsky, Written-By: Bernie Baum, Written-By: Stephan Weiss, Vocals: Edmundo Ros, Written-By: Abraham Ellstein, Written-By: Allan Small, Written-By: Joseph Liebowitz, Ensemble: Patti Page Quartet, Orchestra: Vic Schoen And His Orchestra, Written-By: Harry Revel, Written-By: Mack Gordon, Written-By: Deacon Anderson, Written-By: Johnnie Lee Wills, Orchestra: Harry Geller And His Orchestra, Piano: Carl Fischer (2), Written-By: Terry Gilkyson, Band: Jimmy Dorsey And His Original "Dorseyland" Jazz Band, Vocals: Claire Hogan, Band: Swing And Sway With Sammy Kaye, Vocals: Don Cornell, Written-By: Frank Warshauer, Written-By: Richard Himber, Written-By: Sylvester Sprigato, Backing Vocals: The Moon Maids, Vocals [Refrain]: Vaughn Monroe, Written-By: Buddy Bernier, Written-By: Nat Simon, Backing Vocals: Lombardo Trio, Vocals [Chorus]: Kenny Gardner (2), Written-By: Carl Sigman, Written-By: Herbert Magidson, Orchestra: Vic Schoen And His Orchestra, Written-By: Harry Stone, Written-By: Jack Stapp, Written-By: Deacon Anderson, Written-By: Johnnie Lee Wills, Orchestra: Vic Schoen And His Orchestra, Written-By: Eddie Pola, Written-By: George Wyle, Written-By: Irving Taylor, Vocals: Harry Prime, Written-By: Deacon Anderson, Written-By: Johnnie Lee Wills, Written-By: Al Hoffman, Written-By: Bob Merrill, Written-By: Clem Watts, Orchestra: Roy Ross And His Orchestra, Written-By: James Cassin, Written-By: James Morehead, Orchestra: Archie Bleyer Orchestra, Orchestra: Archie Bleyer Orchestra, Written-By: Fred Spielman, Written-By: Sammy Cahn, Zither, Soloist: Anton Karas, Orchestra: Orchestra Under The Direction Of Henri Rose, Written-By: Bob Merrill, Written-By: Horace Gerlach, Written-By: Robert Burk, Orchestra: Henry Geller & His Orch., Piano: Carl Fischer (2), Soprano Vocals: Loulie Jean Norman, Written-By: Michael Martin Brown, Written-By: Jack Rollins, Written-By: Steve Nelson (4), Guitar, Soloist: Don Rodney, Presenter: Alexander Korda, Presenter: David O.
