 | Description: | Digitally remastered edition of the second album from one of Canada's best kept AOR secrets. Includes 12 page full color booklet - 4,000 word essay, enhanced artwork, rarely seen photos and new interview. Orphan was formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba in the early 80s, initially going under the handle of The Pumps. They released a moderately successful album titled Gotta Move in 1983 but a planned follow up album was inexplicably shelved, forcing the band to re-evaluate their future. Undeterred, they regrouped, switched their name to Orphan and scored a coveted contract with label giant Portrait Records. Under this guise they recorded the, now highly praised, album Lonely At Night produced in New York by Tony Bongiovi and Lance Quinn. Salute, the band's highly anticipated follow up album, was a more mature and sophisticated record. Produced by the same British team who worked on The Pumps album (Jon Astley and Phil Chapman) and recorded in Long Island, New York, the record oozes quality and class. Blessed with a polished sheen and a rich tapestry of songs the sound is highly reminiscent of equally impressive Canadian acts such as Red Rider, Honeymoon Suite and Streetheart. But don't go running away with any idea that they had mellowed out, there's enough pulsating hard rock to satisfy the most discerning heavy-leaning ear."Salute (Collector's Edition)" is a special reissue of the classic 1983 album by Orphan, available in CD format and released by Rock Candy Records. This collector?s edition features remastered audio for enhanced sound quality, bonus tracks, and an extensive booklet with rare photos and liner notes that delve into the band?s history. Orphan was a Canadian melodic rock/AOR band known for their powerful hooks, soaring vocals, and polished production style. Their music captured the spirit of early '80s arena rock, earning them critical acclaim within the genre despite limited mainstream exposure. "Salute" stands as their most celebrated work, showcasing standout tracks like "Lonely at Night" and "What Kind of Love Is This." The release from Rock Candy?an esteemed UK label specializing in high-quality reissues of classic rock albums?ensures fans receive both superior audio fidelity and insightful context about this underrated gem. | | No. of tracks: |
