Rick Wakeman, best known as keyboard player in progressive rock band Yes (across five tenures between 1971 and 2004), releases new solo album â??The Red Planetâ?? - a serious return to "Wakeman Prog". Harking back to Wakeman's critically acclaimed 1973 debut â??The Six Wives of Henry VIIIâ??, â??The Red Planetâ?? features 8 newly composed pieces based around a central subject matter. Rickâ??s blown the dust off his favourite analogue keyboards and along with his latest keys has used the same formula he devised when making his debut album and the equally legendary Criminal Record. Upon being asked about the expectations of his Prog fans, that they are hoping he will have shoved the "Prog Fader" up to 11, he replied, â??That could be a problem... as it's already at 14!!!â? -

Ltd Edition CD Digisleeve, deluxe pop-up packaging, numbered signed and strictly limited to 2,000 worldwide. There are 2 editions, the "Cadet" edition & the "Science Officer" edition; pre-orders included an additional DVD. Rick wakeman posted this message on his websire: *Hi, I am so sorry that the DVD has not been included in this package. This is due to the lockdown and COVID-19. Myself and Rob Ayling were faced with the prospect of using the footage which was shot before the Lockdown, which would have resulted in approximately a 15 min DVD or waiting until after the launch event where we plan to over an hour worth of footage and lots more contributions from the other musicians, fans as well as behinds the scenes footage etc. We made the decision it was better to go with a far superior DVD, than to short change you with an inferior one and just blame it on CO-VID. From a practical point of view, Rob and his team will be mailing the DVDs out as soon as they come back from the pressing plant. May I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy my latest album, The Red Planet. Rick On the CD, the title of Track 2 is shown as "Tharsis Tholus." On the DVD it's "Tharsis Folus," probably incorrect. DVD also contains the album tracks in stereo and 5.1. DVDs were shipped at the end of November 2020.
