Description: | Born in Argentina on March 11th 1921, Astor Piazzolla fused tango, classical techniques and jazz to create the genre of â??nuevo tangoâ??. Piazzolla Stories grew from a visit Lucienne Renaudin Vary made to Buenos Aires in 2017, when she performed at the celebrated Teatro Colón.
The album intersperses Piazzollaâ??s music with pieces by composers who influenced him in some way. Among them are his mentor Carlos Gardel, the â??King of Tangoâ??, his Parisian composition teacher Nadia Boulanger, and, from earlier eras, Johann Sebastian Bach and Niccolò Paganini.
â??All the tracks on Piazzolla Stories have been superbly arranged for trumpet and ensemble by Jérôme Ducros,â? explains Lucienne. â??I think that Piazzollaâ??s music works well on a trumpet, because its lines are very melodic and singing. Trumpet players and singers breathe in the same way, and the trumpet is my voice.â?
The young French trumpeter is joined by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Austrian conductor Sascha Goetzel, French accordionist Richard Galliano, French-Spanish guitarist Thibaut Garcia, and the Quatuor Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo. - ORCHESTRE PHILHARMONIQUE DE MONTE CARLO/SASCHA GOETZEL |
