The quiet, balladic tracks are absolutely breathtaking. The majestic, pompous stuff makes the ELP albums of the early 70’s referenced politely, then run off the road. Portnoy’s enormous drum kit is imaged on the soundstage like an invisible rainbow, stretching high above you, and the rest of the band just oozes virtuosic confidence through every tune.
