Das verlorene 1965er Atlantic-Album des â??legendary Hasaanâ??, dem â??Prokofjew des Jazzâ??, einem Pianisten aus Philadelphia, bewundert von John Coltrane oder Max Roach. Zum ersten Mal verÃ¶ffentlicht! 1964 Ã¼berzeugte der Schlagzeuger und Komponist Max Roach Atlantic Records, Ali mit dem Produzenten Nesuhi Ertegun am Pult aufzunehmen. Die Sessions fanden im Dezember 1964 statt und das daraus resultierende Album â??The Max Roach Trio with The Legendary Hasaanâ?? wurde drei Monate spÃ¤ter verÃ¶ffentlicht. Atlantic lud Ali ein, im August und September 1965 erneut aufzunehmen, aber bevor das aufgenommene Material fÃ¼r ein Album abgemischt werden konnte, war Ali wegen Drogenbesitz eingesperrt worden. Atlantic legte das Album beiseite. Dreizehn Jahre spÃ¤ter ging dieses Band in einem Lagerhaus von Atlantic Records in Long Branch, New Jersey, in Flammen auf. Jahrelang kursierte das GerÃ¼cht, dass eine Kopie der Sessions angefertigt worden war, aber Versuche, sie zu finden, tauchten nie als Quelle auf ... bis jetzt. Von dem Grammy-preisgekrÃ¶nten Ingenieur Michael Graves aus einer lange verschollen geglaubten Bandkopie von einem Acetat restauriert und gemastert, prÃ¤sentiert Omnivore Recordings jetzt endlich dieses lange verloren geglaubte Jazzgeschichte. Recorded in 1965, Hasaan Ibn Ali's Lost Atlantic Album has now been found! Restored from long-lost acetate copies of the sessions, the album showcases the work of the jazz pianist, a contemporary and colleague of John Coltrane. Ali had practiced intensively with John Coltrane in the early 1950s and is thought to have been the influence behind Coltrane's so-called sheets of sound. He is also partially credited for the harmonic approach that underlay Coltrane's breakthrough Giant Steps and, alongside Earl Bostic, is one of two role models behind Coltrane's strict work ethic.
