Im Alter von nur 15 Jahren betrat Lulu im Mai 1964 die Popszene mit "Shout", ihrer unvergesslichen Coverversion des zeitlosen Favoriten der Isley Brothers. Sie hatte weitere Hits bei Decca, bevor sie zum EMI-Label Columbia wechselte, wo sie eine Reihe von Hits produzierte, darunter die US-Nummer 1 "To Sir With Love", "The Boat That I Row", "Me The Peaceful Heart", "I'm A Tiger" und den Gewinner des Eurovision Song Contest 1969, "Boom Bang A Bang". Nachdem Lulu den Titelsong fÃ¼r den James-Bond-Film "The Man With the Golden Gun" aufgenommen hatte, produzierte David Bowie ihre Versionen seiner Songs "Watch That" und "The Man Who Sold The World", ein UK # 3 Hit. Und sie hatte weiterhin Hits in den 70er und 80er Jahren und wurde 1981 fÃ¼r einen Grammy fÃ¼r "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance" fÃ¼r "Who's Foolin" nominiert. 1993 erreichte "Independence" Platz 11, und Ende desselben Jahres folgte ihre Nummer-1-Kollaboration mit Take That auf "Relight My Fire". Eine weitere bemerkenswerte Zusammenarbeit ist ihr Duett mit Ronan Keating, "We've Got Tonight". On EMI's Columbia label she enjoyed a string of hits produced by Mickie Most, including US # 1 "To Sir With Love", "The Boat That I Row", "Me, The Peaceful Heart", "I'm A Tiger", and the joint winner of 1969's Eurovision Song Contest, "Boom Bang-A-Bang". After Lulu recorded the title song for James Bond film "The Man With the Golden Gun", David Bowie produced her versions of his songs "Watch That Man" and "The Man Who Sold The World", the latter a UK # 3 hit. And in 1993 collaboration with Take That on "Relight My Fire" reached # 1.
