| Description: | Hot on the heels of Impulseâ??s recent unearthed Coltrane number one hit album comes
another beauty from Jazzâ??s â??holy trinityâ??
This is a previously unreleased, precious lost treasure from Monkâ??s most critically acclaimed
line-up; Charlie Rouse on saxophone, John Ore on double bass, and Frankie Dunlop on
drums.
Known as the â??High Priest of Bebopâ?
- Without a widely agreed must-have Monk release, could this fill the void as the Monk
everyone should own?
Tracks include renditions of the famous â??Nuttyâ? and â??Bye-Ya.â? Monk composed over sixtyodd
pieces which are still circulating in the jazz repertoire, more than any other jazz
composer.
- Recorded live in Copenhagen in 1963 at the peak of Monkâ??s career. A year later he was to
feature on the cover of TIME magazine, one of only for 4 Jazz artists ever to do so.
- The vinyl format is a genuine AAA release (analogue recording, analogue mix, analogue
master) using the original source tapes, making it a true all analogue, audiophile primed
release.
- Cut in-house with Gearboxâ??s 1967 Haeco Scully lathe, the exact same lathe as Blue Note
used back in the day. - ?&© 2020 Gearbox Records.
Recorded on 5th March 1963 at Odd Fellow Palæet, Copenhagen, Denmark.
