After making his name in the late Sixties as a singer and producer, fronting popular Jamaican vocal trio, the Federals, David â??Scottyâ?? Scott enjoyed further success leading the Chosen Few singing quartet before demonstrating his talents as a DJ, with a series of hugely popular 7â? singles for leading Kingston music maker, Derrick Harriott. Early hits included â??Sesame Streetâ??, â??Riddle I Thisâ??, â??Children Childrenâ?? and the smash, â??Draw Your Brakesâ??, which was further showcased in Perry Henzellâ??s highly acclaimed cult classic movie, â??The Harder They Comeâ?. In response to the widespread popularity of the singer-come-DJâ??s work, Harriott issued a best-selling long player, â??School-Daysâ?, which showcased Scottyâ??s aforementioned hits alongside previous unissued tracks, with the collection released internationally in 1971 by the worldâ??s leading Jamaican music enterprise, Trojan Records. Now, at long last, the album is finally reissued in its original artwork on CD, with its track-listing bolstered by the remainder of Scottyâ??s singles for Harriott, plus the B-sides of each of his 7â? singles, all of which make their CD debut. â??School-Daysâ? is a welcome reminder of this hugely popular artistâ??s talent as a DJ and should be an essential purchase for fans of vintage reggae, cool rock steady and classic Jamaican toasting sounds. - After this great Jamaican singer gained further renown as a DJ (particularly for his hit singles for leading Kingston music maker Derrick Harriott), David "Scotty" Scott was showcased on the 1971 Trojan LP "School-Days."
