Description:„Fistful of Metal" ist das Debüt-Studioalbum der amerikanischen Thrash-Metal-Band Anthrax, das im Januar 1984 von Megaforce Records in den USA und von Music for Nations international veröffentlicht wurde. Es enthält unter anderem eine Coverversion von Alice Coopers "I'm Eighteen“. Die Meinungen zu "Fistful of Metal" waren durchaus unterschiedlich. Xavier Russel von Kerrang! nannte es ein großartiges Debütalbum, mit Songs, die eine unglaubliche Geschwindigkeit entwickeln würden. Der kanadische Journalist Martin Popoff lobte den gut produzierten Sound und den "fast opernhaften Anti-Thrash-Gesang" von Turbin. Die Zeitschrift Guitar World setzte das Album auf ihre Liste der "New Sensations: 50 Iconic Albums That Defined 1984". Im Juni 2019 nahm Decibel „Fistful of Metal“ aufgrund der Reputation als eines der besten frühen Beispiele des Thrash Metal in ihre Hall of Fame auf. - .. METAL / RED W/BLACK SPLATTER

Like Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer, their unwitting musical bedfellows, Anthrax have not so much crafted but discharged this landmark springboard of raucous, rowdy and energetic thrash as a veritable fist to the listener's ears. Impressive stuff but, without a distinct sound yet, not flawless.
