Die Mundharmonika war in den letzten Jahrzehnten in der Musikszene des North Mississippi Hill Country auffällig abwesend, aber das war nicht immer so. Insbesondere war Johnny Woods (1917-1990) ein häufiger Partner von R. L. Burnside und Mississippi Fred McDowell. Ein weiterer Held der Musik- und House-Party-Szene in North Mississippi war Wilbert Lee Reliford, ein blinder Mundharmonikaspieler, Sänger und gelegentlicher Gitarrist. Reliford erzählte, dass er 1924 in der Nähe von Rossville, Tennessee, der Heimatstadt von McDowell, geboren wurde. Er wuchs jedoch in der Nähe von Chulahoma, Mississippi, dem Standort von Junior Kimbroughs berüchtigtem Musiklokal, auf. - Wilburt Lee Reliford's Seems Like A Dream is the next installment in Big Legal Mess/Fat Possum's North Mississippi Redux Series originating from field recordings produced by Dutch folklorist Ko de Korte in the early 90's. Similar to the first installment, Jessie Mae Hemphill's Run Get My Shotgun, these recordings have been resurrected and enhanced by Bruce Watson and his Sacred Soul Sound Section, bringing all that North MS vibe back to life in an incredible collection that indeed seems like a dream.Printed inner sleeve |
