 | Description: | The fact that the Berliner Lautten Compagney and its director Wolfgang Katschner "keep producing brilliant crossover albums" has already become a "trademark of the ensemble". (BR-Klassik) The last album "Time Zones" with works by Erik Satie (1866-1925) and early baroque music by the German composer Samuel Scheidt (1587-1654) received fantastic reviews: "An exceptional album" (Fono Forum, 5 stars), "As remote as it is masterly ... Satie, acting parodically, lets us hear Scheidt's (alternating sounding) sovereign work with amazement and respect. For gourmets!" (WAZ, five stars); "one of the most colorful and refined recordings of the year ending" (SWR2). With the new album "Time Travel" The multi-award-winning ensemble is once again presenting an unusually conceived album: selected hits by the legendary Beatles meet the music of the most famous English baroque composer, Henry Purcell. And the result is astonishingly good: "The Purcell and Beatles compositions merge seamlessly [...] with one another. Old and new can hardly be combined more skillfully and [...] intelligently, everything here is organic and logical, nothing seems intentional or artificial. And that The entire ensemble just sprouts the pure lust for music ", wrote the press enthusiastically after a completely sold out concert in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. No wonder, because the arrangements by composer and cellist Bo Wiget and ensemble director Wolfgang Katschner, tailored to the special line-up of the Lautten Compagney, build an impressive sonic bridge between the 17th and 20th centuries. The saxophone used as a soloist creates a very unique color, which mostly reproduces the original vocal melody and is played with wonderful expression by the young saxophonist Asya Fateyeva. "Time Travel" features Lennon / McCartney songs such as "Yesterday", "Another Girl", "Because", "Tomorrow never knows" or "When I'm 64" and works from Purcell's famous stage works such as "King Arthur" , "The Fairy Queen", "Dido and Aeneas", "The Indian Queen", "Abdelazer" and " - ..
