Omnivore Recordings freut sich, in Zusammenarbeit mit Warner Records, endlich den Release des bisher unverÃ¶ffentlichten DebÃ¼talbums von Explorer Tapes bekannt zu geben. Die Geschichte der Explorer Tapes ist eine klassische Geschichte der Pop-Musik. Zwei Jungs aus der Gegend von Dallas/Fort Worth nehmen eine lebenslange Freundschaft und beschlieÃ?en, eine Band zu grÃ¼nden. Sie versammeln ein paar weitere talentierte Musiker aus der Umgebung, schreiben ein paar Songs, spielen ein paar Shows, drehen ein paar Videos, packen dann alle in einen Van und fahren nach Los Angeles, in der Hoffnung, von einem Verlag oder einem Plattenlabel unter Vertrag genommen zu werden, oder noch besser, von beiden. Genau das geschah mit der Gruppe. Nicht lange nachdem sie L.A. erreicht hatten, unterzeichneten Max Townsley und Drew Erickson, alias Explorer Tapes, einen Verlagsvertrag mit Warner/Chappell Music. Nachdem sie einige Songs mit etablierteren Autoren (David Baerwald, Dillon O'Brian, Steve Lindsey) geschrieben hatten, hatte das Duo das GlÃ¼ck, dass Keith Urban ihren Song "Texas Time" aufnahm. Die Gruppe unterschrieb bald bei Warner Records und bekam den angesagten Produzenten Mike Elizondo zugewiesen, ein ProtegÃ© von Dr. Dre und bekannt fÃ¼r seine Produktion von so unterschiedlichen KÃ¼nstlern wie 50 Cent, Eminem, Carrie Underwood, Fiona Apple und Twenty One Pilots. -

The story of Explorer Tapes is a classic tale of popular music. Two musicians from the Dallas/Fort Worth area took a life-long friendship and decide to start a band. They gathered some additional talented musicians from the surrounding area, wrote songs, played shows, make videos, then packed everyone in a van and drive to Los Angeles with the hope of getting signed to a publishing company, a record label, or even better - both! This is, in fact, what happened. Not long after reaching LA, Max Townsley and Drew Erickson, aka Explorer Tapes, signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music. After writing many songs with more established writers like David Baerwald (David & David), Dillon O'Brian (Adam Cohen, Neville Brothers), and Steve Lindsey (Julie Brown, Martini Ranch) - the duo even get one of their songs ("Texas Time") recorded by Keith Urban, featured on his sixth No. 1 Country Album. The group soon signs to Warner Bros. Records. The label assigned hot producer Mike Elizondo, a protégé of Dr. Dre and known for his production of artists as varied as 50 Cent, Eminem, Carrie Underwood, Fiona Apple and Twenty One Pilots, to record and produce Explorer Tapes. The songs and recordings came together quickly and the album was more or less done in three weeks in January 2015.
