 | Description: | Anima Aeterna, an adventurous album of sacred arias and motets from the 18th century, follows in the vein of Anima Sacra, which in 2018 decisively announced Jakub Józef OrliÅ?skiâ??s arrival as a recording artist.
The Polish countertenor feels that â??the shades and colours to be heard in in sacred music of baroque era touch peopleâ??s souls, even today. Anima Aeterna means â??eternal soulâ??, which for me means nature â?¦ Something so vital, wild and dangerous, yet also so calm, mesmerizing and healing.
Anima Aeternaâ??s programme, conceived with the expert help of performer and musicologist Yannis François, contains music by Zelenka, Handel, Fux, and the little-known Gennaro Manna, Francisco António de Almeida, Bartolomeo Nucci and (on the LP version) Davide Perez. There are several world premiere recordings on the album: indeed, Yannis François believes that the aria by Nucci, from an oratorio on the story of David and Goliath, constitutes the Tuscan composerâ??s first appearance in the entire recorded catalogue.
In Zelenkaâ??s motet â??Laetatus sumâ?? OrliÅ?ski is joined by the captivating soprano Fatma Said, whose prizewinning debut album, El Nour, has also generated considerable excitement. Francesco Corti conducts the orchestra and chorus of Il Pomo dâ??Oro. - IL POMO D'ORO/FRANCESCO CORTI / AKL 21 | | Manufacturer No.: |
