| | Description: | Marillion released its studio album debut, Script for a Jesterâ??s Tear, in March 1983.The record was certified platinum in the bandâ??s native U.K. where it reached number seven on the Albums Chart and spawned two Top 40 singles: â??He Knows You Knowâ? (#35) and â??Garden Partyâ? (#16).
Both DELUXE EDITIONS open with a newly remixed stereo version of Script for a Jesterâ??s Tear by Andy Bradfield and Avril Mackintosh. In addition, the collections also feature new stereo remixes for the b-side â??Charting The Singleâ? that was released in January 1982, as well as the Market Square Heroes EP that followed in October that same year.
Both versions also include the debut of a previously unreleased concert that captures Marillion performing in London at the Marquee Club on December 29, 1982. Recorded a few months before Script for a Jesterâ??s Tear was released, the show features live versions of all six album tracks: â??He Knows You Know,â? â??The Web,â? â??Garden Party,â? â??Chelsea Monday,â? â??Forgotten Sonsâ? and the title track.
The concert also features performances of non-album tracks like â??Three Boats Down From The Candyâ? and the 19-minute epic â??Grendelâ? from the Market Square Heroes EP. A live version of â??Margaretâ? is also included. A different version of that song appeared in June 1983 as the b-side for the â??Garden Partyâ? single.
The Blu-ray features 96k/24-bit versions of the new stereo remixes for Script for a Jesterâ??s Tear and the Market Square Heroes EP, as well as the Live at the Marquee Club concert. The disc also includes a 5.1 Surround Remix of Script for a Jesterâ??s Tear. Rounding out the collection is a new documentary with band interviews that covers the 1979 formation of Marillion in Aylesbury through the release of Script for a Jesterâ??s Tear in 1983. - Script For A Jester's Tear was Marillion's debut studio album originally released on 13 March 1983, reaching #7 in the UK Albums Chart (eventually achieving a platinum status) and produced the two Top 40 singles 'He Knows You Know' and 'Garden Party'. Formed in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, in 1979, the band went through several personnel changes before recording their debut album. Having attracted attention with a three-track session for the Friday Rock Show they were signed by EMI Records releasing their first single, 'Market Square Heroes', in October 1982 with their debut album Script For A Jester's Tear following a few months later after their second single 'He Knows You Know'."Script for a Jester's Tear (2020 Stereo Remix)" is the remixed edition of Marillion?s iconic debut album, presented here in CD format by Parlophone Label Group (PLG).
