"Death Shall Rise (2CD Edition)" is a deluxe reissue of the seminal 1991 album by British death metal pioneers Cancer, released by Peaceville Records. This expanded edition features the original album remastered alongside rare bonus tracks and live recordings, offering fans an immersive experience into one of death metal's most influential works. Cancer, formed in Telford in 1988, quickly rose to prominence with their raw sound and relentless energy, becoming a staple in the early UK death metal scene. Their albums "To the Gory End" and "Death Shall Rise" are widely regarded as genre classics, earning them international recognition and tours with legendary acts like Deicide and Obituary. The label behind this release, Peaceville Records, has been at the forefront of extreme music since its inception in 1987?championing groundbreaking artists such as My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Darkthrone?making it synonymous with quality releases for discerning metal fans.
Death shall rise is more bombastic and brutal than the former, but with less hooks as well. This is not a bad thing. Much like fellow countrymen Bolt Thrower and Benediction, Cancer bludgeons the ears with deep guitar tones and crushing rhythms from the drums and bass.
