Description: | Christina Pluhar, Lâ??Arpeggiata and eight guest singers explore the musical highways and byways of Italyâ??s most kaleidoscopic city. Alla Napoletana, a double album, expresses the mercurial personality of Naples in music from the 17th to the 20th centuries. Varied, colourful and sometimes surprising, the repertoire ranges from sacred cantatas to songs famously interpreted by Enrico Caruso, Mario Lanza and Nina Simone â?¦ from the operatic style of the so-called Neapolitan School to popular dances such as the electrifying tarantella.
Joining Pluhar and the other multi-faceted instrumentalists of Lâ??Arpeggiata are sopranos Céline Scheen and Bruno de Sá, mezzo-soprano Luciana Mancini, countertenor Valer Sabadus and alto Vincenzo Capezzuto, tenors Alessandro Giangrande and Zachary Wilder, and bass João Fernandes. - Timings:
