 | Description: | AUSSIES COVER AUSSIES
Jack Russell, the singer of the American band Great White, said, â??Better a cover of an excellent song than a bad writting one.â? And who else but musicians from Down Under could take this currency to their accounts? If you bought the first six volumes of the Rock des Antipodes (deep respect!), you must have noticed that some big names of the Australian Rock were missed, for exclusivity or rights clauses.
With this seventh volume, we remedy this lack a little bit. The titles of Midnight Oil, Inxs, Icehouse, Split Enz and of course AC/DC are finally part of the family. More diversified than the first volumes, this compilation gives pride of place to the Australian Rock in its widest: from The Church to Rose Tattoo, from The Angels to Cold Chisel and Hoodoo Gurus, the sweep of fifty years of Rock has been masterfully passed by more or less established bands.
Groups entered the studio to put their versions (Ty Coatesâ?? Bombers, Red Dragon Blues) and came to rub shoulders with the cream of the crop (Grinspoon, The Living End, The Divinyls, The Casanovas, Something For Kate, Lord ) They didnâ??t wait for someone to give him the pole. The punks of Bored! , The Spazzys and Mach Pelican also decant the versions of their elders while Rick Springfield and John Farnham come to put a note of sensitivity in all this agitation! - If you bought the first six volumes of the Rock des Antipodes (deep respect!), you must have noticed that some big names of the Australian Rock were missing, for exclusivity or rights issues.
