Description:

25th anniversary vinyl 2LP reissue of 1996's The Cainian Chronicle from Norwegian black metal institution Ancient. Two years after they released their highly acclaimed folk/black album Svartalvheim and an EP, they released this album which marked their initial change in style - the band cut out most to any folk influences, and instead, a more melodic-based approach was introduced to their sound. By the time this album was released, the melodic sub-genre of black metal was saturated with quality releases - and The Cainian Chronicle was certainly one of the high-water marks.
