 | Description: | Parcels have announced details of their second album â??Day/Nightâ?? and shared their new single â??Somethinggreaterâ??.
The Australian-born, Berlin-based band released their self-titled debut record in 2018 and now are back with its follow-up.
â??Day/Nightâ?? is made up of â??two self-contained albumsâ? and was recorded at Parisâ?? La Frette Studios. It was produced by Parcels, with James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Foals) on mixing duty and string arrangements handled by Owen Pallett.
The record will be comprised of 19 tracks, including previous singles â??Freeâ??, â??Comingbackâ??, and the track â??Somethinggreaterâ??. In a press release, the band said of the latter: â??In early 2020, Noah [Hill, bassist] showed us a demo that contained a chorus line that had us all particularly excited. It had an anthem-like quality and felt really fitting to what we were channelling through the albums.
â??We jammed out the track in our rehearsal room in Berlin and fell upon the chorus groove all at once, a special instantaneousness that seems to be only achieved in a live jam, and as a result, we proceeded to play it for hours.
It continued: â??Anatole [â??Totoâ?? Serret, drummer] began to cry with the tears that usually come from when you are lost in a nightclub, alas, we felt we had hit something really special. With the songâ??s clear message of search and discovery, it felt absolutely right to record â??Somethinggreaterâ?? first upon entering La Frette studios.â?
Themes set to be tackled on â??Day/Nightâ?? include opposing ideas of identity and anonymity, family and independence, belonging and isolation, nostalgia and projection, and more. - Double vinyl LP pressing. Parcels have always been a band of extreme light and shade: they're from surf hotspot Byron Bay in Australia but living in Berlin for years; their sweet-as-honey vocal harmonies rival the Beach Boys but their live shows can turn into slamming techno rave-ups. The band returns with an ambitious third studio album, Day/Night, a double record huge in scope and sound, whose hopeful messages of perseverance through difficult times are a balm for these uncertain times.Made in France"Day/Night (2LP)" is the ambitious double album by Australian band Parcels, released in LP format under Because Music. This record showcases Parcels' signature blend of funk, disco, and indie-pop influences across two distinct discs?one representing "Day," with uplifting grooves and sunlit melodies, and the other embodying "Night," exploring deeper moods and introspective soundscapes. The album highlights the band's growth since their acclaimed self-titled debut, featuring intricate arrangements, lush harmonies, and infectious rhythms that have made them a favorite on international stages. Parcels gained global recognition with hits like "Tieduprightnow" and collaborations with Daft Punk on "Overnight."
