 | Description: | ā??SELIGPREISUNGā?¯ (1973) was the fourth album by Popol Vuh. Compared to their previous recordings, the hymn-like ā??Hosianna Mantraā?? ā?? a milestone record within their career ā?? saw Popol Vuh taking the next step with ā??Seligpreisungā??. A new musical element entered the mix: rock. No coincidence, as Daniel Fichelscher from Amon Düül II made his first appearance here, playing guitars and drums. Fichelscher was to become an important companion for Fricke securing the rock element as an important and explicit ingredient of their music in the coming years. The music on ā??Seligpreisungā?? evokes that typical and mysterious brilliance of Popol Vuh of being able to sound non-Western while using mostly Western instruments. While Daniel Fichelscher and Conny Veit gave rock impulses, Florian Fricke and Robert Eliscu approached things from the classical side. Robert Eliscu played a lyrical oboe; his intricate duets with Fricke on the grand piano defined the meditative side of the tracks on the album. Due to the temporary absence of vocalist Djong Yun, all vocal duties fell to Florian Fricke this time. The incredibly beautiful bonus track ā??Be In Loveā?¯ is an essential addition. It is the A-side of a now hard to find single, recorded just before the album ā??Seligpreisungā?¯, with vocals by Djong Yun. - CD reissue. Born as Florian Fricke's brainchild, Popol Vuh needs little introduction, the band stayed active between the late 1960s and late 1990s (until Florian's passing in 2001). Regarded as pioneers in avant-garde German electronic music, their early works practically laid down the foundations for 'Kosmische Muzik' (Space Music) with the then new sounds of the Moog synthesizer joined with ethnic percussion."Seligpreisung" is a seminal album by the legendary German band Popol Vuh, released in CD format by BMG. This 1973 masterpiece stands as one of the most influential works in the realms of krautrock and ambient music, blending spiritual themes with innovative soundscapes. The album features ethereal melodies, hypnotic rhythms, and an evocative use of both acoustic and electronic instruments that transport listeners into a meditative state. Popol Vuh, founded by Florian Fricke in 1969, became renowned for their pioneering fusion of progressive rock with world music influences and are best known for their collaborations on Werner Herzog?s iconic film soundtracks such as "Aguirre: The Wrath of God." Their unique style has inspired countless artists across genres.
