"Attera Totus Sanctus" is a powerful CD release by the legendary Swedish black metal band Dark Funeral, brought to you by OSMOSE RECORDS/RED DIST. This album, originally released in 2005, stands as one of the most aggressive and uncompromising works in Dark Funeral's discography. Featuring relentless blast beats, razor-sharp guitar riffs, and infernal vocals, "Attera Totus Sanctus" delivers an intense listening experience that captures the essence of Scandinavian black metal at its peak. The lyrics delve deep into themes of blasphemy and anti-religion, staying true to the band's notorious reputation for pushing boundaries within extreme music. Dark Funeral was formed in Stockholm in 1993 and quickly rose to prominence with their ferocious sound and dark aesthetic. Over the years, they have become one of Sweden?s most influential black metal acts alongside bands like Marduk and Dissection. Their previous albums such as "The Secrets of the Black Arts" and "Vobiscum Satanas" are considered classics within the genre. OSMOSE RECORDS/RED DIST is renowned for supporting groundbreaking artists within extreme metal genres since its inception in France during the early '90s. Yuriy P. - 16/Oct/2024 5 of 5 Stars!
Dark Funeral are better than ever… I realized this truth without even listening to the title track. First of all, the atmosphere has increased. “King Antichrist” and “Attera Totus Sanctus” are first on this list. I have to disappoint those who expected to laugh at Dark Funeral’s lyrics again. The cry “Satan” is not heard here every other word, moreover… You won’t hear it here at all. Apparently, Caligula got tired of being laughed at, and this time he approached writing lyrics more seriously. However, this is not the only surprise… The structure of the songs has also changed. Almost all of them have lyrical interludes, evoking a truly dark atmosphere. The drums are as fast and lightning-fast as always. The only thing I didn’t like was the small number of songs. I could turn a blind eye to this if the band had the prolific output of their albums like their colleagues Marduk, but alas, this is not the case... If you like black metal, then you simply must have this album!
