"Medina" is a remarkable jazz album by the legendary vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, available in CD format and produced by Um. This release captures Hutcherson at his creative peak, blending post-bop sophistication with soulful improvisation. The tracks on "Medina" showcase intricate melodies and dynamic interplay between top-tier musicians, making it an essential listen for any jazz enthusiast. Bobby Hutcherson was one of the most influential vibraphonists in modern jazz history, known for albums like "Components," "Dialogue," and collaborations with artists such as Herbie Hancock and Eric Dolphy. His innovative approach expanded the possibilities of the vibraphone within contemporary music. The manufacturer Um is recognized for its commitment to high-quality audio productions, ensuring that each release meets audiophile standards while celebrating important works from across musical genres.
This album by vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson was recorded in 1969 but like so many other fine blue note recordings, it remained on the shelves until it was finally released in 1980. This Bobby Hutcherson/Harold land quintet session contains six compositions; Drummer Joe chambers, pianist Stanley Cowell and Hutcherson each contribute two numbers apiece. The execution of these post bop compositions is top-notch and "Medina" is yet another fine album by this quintet.
