Seinen Ruf als feuerspuckender Wahrheits-Sager erwarb sich Paul Cauthen zunächst als Mitglied der
Roots-Rock-Band Sons of Fathers, aber erst mit der Veröffentlichung seines Solodebüts My Gospel im Jahr 2016
schöpfte er wirklich die volle Tiefe seiner erstaunlichen Talente aus. Vice Noisey nannte es ??eine düstere
Erinnerung daran, wie glücklich wir sind, am Leben zu sein??, während Texas Monthly von Cauthen schwärmte
und meinte ??er klingt wie die Highwaymen in einem: er hat Willies Phrasierung, Johnnys hageres Zittern,
Kristoffersons Talent fürs Geschichtenerzählen und Waylons Bariton.?? Das Album landete am Ende des Jahres
auf einer Reihe von Best-Of-Listen und verdiente sich Festivalauftritte von Austin City Limits und Pickathon bis
Stagecoach und Tumbleweed zusammen mit Auftritten im Vorprogramm von Elle King, Margo Price, Midland,
Cody Jinks, Social Distortion und vielen mehr. Zwei Alben und sechs Jahre später wird Paul das mit Spannung
erwartete neue Studioalbum mit dem Titel ??Country Coming Down??, veröffentlichen, das am 1. April 2022 über
Pauls eigenes Label Velvet Rose Records in Zusammenarbeit mit Thirty Tigers veröffentlicht werden soll. - Paul Cauthen first earned his reputation as a fire-breathing truth-teller with the acclaimed roots rock band Sons of Fathers, but it wasn't until the 2016 release of his solo debut, My Gospel, that he truly tapped into the full depth of his prodigious talents. Vice Noisey dubbed it "a somber reminder of how lucky we are to be alive," while Texas Monthly raved that Cauthen "sound[s] like the Highwaymen all rolled into one: he's got Willie's phrasing, Johnny's haggard quiver, Kristofferson's knack for storytelling, and Waylon's baritone." The album landed on a slew of Best Of lists at the year's end and earned festival appearances from Austin City Limits and Pickathon to Stagecoach and Tumbleweed along with dates opening for Elle King, Margo Price, Midland, Cody Jinks, Social Distortion and more. Two albums and six years down the road, Paul delivers the highly anticipated new studio effort Country Coming Down. Produced by Paul, Jason Burt and Beau Bedford, this new collection of tracks is packed with attitude and attention to detail, and will surely reinforce Paul's staying power as a musician and songwriter.Runouts are etched except for STERLING which is stamped. |
