Description:

"Listening to music should make being alive better" is the philosophy that 25 year old Luke Pretty - aka Tennyson - has crafted his forthcoming project around. Born Luke Pretty, his creativity bloomed in the basement of his parentâ??s home. Younger sister Tess is his drum-playing partner, and the siblings cut their teeth on local jazz clubs. As a teen, Luke got his hands on some production software, mixing complex beats with cutesy melodies. The 2015 Like What EP led to releases with Mr. Carmack and Skrillex. â??That was working for a while. I don't know if it was genuine, though" he recalls. The Telescope EP, released in 2019, showcased a growing understanding of pop structure without forgoing Lukeâ??s roots.. Rot is a musical diary of a brain gone sideways, the sound of a young artist on the brink of his own disaster. Ironically, however, itâ??s also the moment Tennysonâ??s voice falls into place. Literally speaking, Tennyson puts his vocals on nearly every track, save one that features Rae Morris, but itâ??s also a metaphorical milestone. The songs on Rot still have that signature Tennyson charm, but the beats are a little simpler and the hooks a bit catchier. The album is chalk-full of Lukes unique sound, the mix of dynamic electronic textures and syncopated rhythms overlayed with this smooth, subdued vocals. -
