The Norwegian trio Kanaan offers on "Earthbound" heavy Stoner-stuff. After the rather soft "Prelude" three tracks of pure dynamic energy are following with a mighty rhythm-roller overarched by a biting guitar and a roaring organ. Track 5 "Mirage" is the quiet zone of "Earthbound" before the outburst of the hellish "Mudbound" happens which owns interesting changes of tempo and intensity. "Crash" is an example for really slow doom-rock whereas "Not star left unturned" shows up as a high speed-soundscape with an industrial touch. All in all, a strong and challenging album.
