Description:This is one of the most talked about and rarest rock albums of the 1970s, with an Ebay record auction bid of over £4,000 for a copy of an original LP.
â??Growers Of Mushroomâ?? has been hailed by many critics as a heavy rock classic by a London band that evolved out of blues band Black Cat Bones, put together by vocalist Peter French and guitarist Mick Halls, and renamed Leaf Hound at the dawn of the progressive rock era.
Halls and French produced a mature sound, based on their previous experience with Black Cat Bones. â??Growers Of Mushroomâ?? was recorded in a London studio in an eleven hour session that produced nine great tracks. The bandâ??s name and song titles, such as â??Work My Bodyâ?? and â??Freelance Fiendâ??, are taken from an anthology of horror stories.
Fans have compared this album to the early works of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and it features howling vocals and razor-sharp guitar. Do not miss this chance to hear once again on vinyl the greatest album that time forgot.Expertly remastered for LP â?? superb sound â?? top quality reproduction on 180g vinyl. - .. MUSHROOM // 180G GREEN VINYL
50th anniversary limited edition green vinyl pressing of the highly collectable Growers Of Mushroom album by cult UK proto-metal band Leaf Hound. Morphing out of blues-orientated Black Cat Bones, Leaf Hound were a London-based heavy rock band whose lone album Growers Of Mushroom has long been prized among collectors, with original copies exchanging hands for thousands of pounds. Sitting somewhere between nascent metal and psychedelia, their self-titled LP was originally issued on the German Telefunken label; however, that pressing left o- two tracks, an oversight remedied when the album saw release on UK Decca in October 1971. Alas, by that point the band had split up, adding to their mystique, and assuring the album's cult status into the bargain. Fronted by dynamic rock singer Peter French and underpinned by lead guitarist Mick Halls' assured licks, brothers Derek and Stuart Brooks (guitar and bass, respectively) and drummer Keith Young, this was powerful stu- inspired in part by horror writer Herbert van Thal (from whose anthology they took their name), with a distinctly European rather than American sound. Lauded as a stoner rock classic and one of the genre's most sought after artefacts, Growers Of Mushroom and Leaf Hound appeared to vanish into the ether, with French resurfacing in Atomic Rooster and Cactus, and later Randy Pie. Scarcely could the band have imagined after recording the LP in little more than 11 hours, that 50 years on copies would be changing hands for £11,000. Thanks to renewed interest prompted by collectors, French reformed Leaf Hound in the early 2000s with a new line-up. Two albums have followed, while Leaf Hound continues to earn the respect of rock fans the world over.
