 | Description: | The ??alternative country meets indie space garage pop meets psychedelic rock?? of Vancouver's Pink
Mountaintops is the brainchild of Stephen McBean, who is also the singer/songwriter/guitarist for Black
Mountain, which was formerly known as Jerk With A Bomb. McBean's solo project, starting in the late ??90s, was
also known by another name: One Easy Skag. By 2003 both bands were rechristened with their mountainous
names, and in the summer of 2004 the Pink Mountaintops' self-titled debut album arrived. While the album
became one of 2005's most prominent indie rock releases, McBean brought Pink Mountaintops back the
following year with ??Axis Of Evol?. The well-received ??Outside Love? arrived in 2009, followed by a pair of Black
Mountain releases (??In The Future? and ??Wilderness Heart?). The group's ??Get Back?, dropped in 2014, is now
finally followed up with ??Peacock Pools?. The line-up of Pink Mountaintops is ever changing, only Stephen
McBean is predominantly on the helm of most things, but in the past the band included members of Godspeed
You! Black Emperor, Dead Meadow and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Now we see musicians from bands as Red
Kross, Melvins, Destroyer, Death Valley Girls and Sinoia Caves playing along Stephen on ??Peacock Pools?. Again,
Mr. McBean is making quite an eclectic, personal and twisted happening of it; it sounds ??crazy, nerdy, funky &
funny and also sometimes pretty noisy & rocky??. ??Peacock Pools? is a freewheeling and bombastic emotional
rollercoaster, always moving, uplifting and outgoing! - Pink Mountaintops' first new album in eight years features 12 songs sparked from Stephen McBean's magpie-like curiosity for a wild expanse of cultural artifacts: David Cronenberg, Disney Read-Along Records from the '70s, early Pink Floyd, mid-career Gary Numan, John Carpenter movies, Ornette Coleman live videos. Featuring counterculture icons like Steven McDonald (Redd Kross) and Dale Crover (Melvins), Peacock Pools alchemize those obsessions into a body of work with it's own enchanting power. | | Manufacturer No.: |
