| | Description: | This the premiere on DVD & Blu-Ray of the 77 minute documentary of the 1980/81 world tour of The Police. A video chronicle of the Police's first world tour IN 1979/1980, the viewer is invited along with the band to explore Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, India, Egypt, France, Latin America, and finally end up in Los Angeles. The stage performances showcase the band playing with a frenzy and passion that would not be matched during their superstardom years.
Presented as a travelogue-style documentary, the film shows the band on and off stage as they explore the local culture and perform in front of fans on 6 continents. The show was previously available only on VHS and Laserdisc, and has had the visuals restored and the audio remixed and mastered for its first-ever release on DVD and Blu-ray. 4 complete performances from the show are included as DVD & BD bonus features, and will be bundled with live audio on CD or LP.
The off-stage footage is often hilarious (Andy sumo-wrestling in Japan; a squabble among the Copeland brothers in Egypt that dissolves into shoving and cursing in Arabic) and also quite revealing of the tensions that always lurked beneath the surface with the group. - LIVE FROM AROUND THE WORLD, 1980SYNOPSISAround The World Restored & Expanded follows The Police on their first world tour in 1979 and 1980, as they visit 6 continents building their fanbase show-by-show, country-by-country, song-by-song.
