During this golden age of Jamaican music, the labelâ??s roster included such legendary artists Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, The Maytals, The Pioneers, The Gaylads , The Melodians and Bob Marley And The Wailers, but while the recordings of these giants have provided the focus of numerous compilations over the years, the work of the lesser- known acts to record for Kong has remained largely overlooked. This 2CD collection sets to address this oversight by bringing together the cream of Beverleyâ??s less familiar late ska, rock steady and proto reggae sides from late 1966 to the close of â??68.
