By the later half of the 70s, when roots, DJ and dub dominated the Jamaican music landscape, few producers could equal the creative success of Joe Gibbs.
Assisted by the gifted sound engineer Errol Thompson, Gibbs issued many of the most popular and inļ¬?uential recordings of the period, performed by some of the islandā??s most celebrated artists.
During this time, he released two similarly branded vinyl collections, each comprising ten of the ļ¬nest roots and DJ sounds from the period: ā??United Dreadlocksā??, Volumes 1 and 2.
These hugely popular long-players provide the focus of this two CD collection, with their respective track listings bolstered by the cream of the producerā??s output from 1976 to 1977.
