The album blends jazz and funk with signature South African motifs. Roots was led by the master saxophonist Barney Rachabane. -

Details of mispress: the beginning of track B1 is missing, the track starts mid-sax riff after the silent run-in groove. Listening to the same track on the We Are Busy Bodies bandcamp page, one can hear that there is a vocal count-in on the full track, so there is clearly a piece missing. Also, the vinyl track times out to about 3:41, while the duration of the track on bandcamp is given as 3:54
