Bereits 1761, ein Jahr vor Orfeo ed Euridice, erneuerte Gluck mit der Bearbeitung von MoliÃ¨res Don Juan fÃ¼r das Wiener Publikum eine andere musikalische Gattung weitgehend, das Ballett. Ein Jahr spÃ¤ter folgte SÃ©miramis. Die beiden Werke basieren erstmals auf einer kohÃ¤renten ErzÃ¤hlung, in der alle Ressourcen des Orchesters in den Dienst des Ausdrucks gestellt werden. Jordi Savall und Le Concert des Nations holen alle Nuancen dieser Partituren hervor und erinnern daran, dass ein Vierteljahrhundert vor Mozart die BÃ¼hnen Europas von einer anderen herausragenden PersÃ¶nlichkeit mit der ganzen suggestiven Kraft der Musik verwÃ¶hnt wurden: C. W. Gluck. - .. & SEMIRAMIS

A year before his pinnacle opus, Orpheus and Eurydice, Gluck was already largely renewing another musical genre, the ballet, by adapting in 1761 a play by Molière for the Viennese public: Don Juan. Another ballet, Sémiramis, would follow the next year, these two works innovate in that they offer a coherent narration where all the resources of the orchestra are put at the service of expressiveness. Jordi Savall and the Concert des Nations restore all the colors and remind us that a quarter of a century before that of Mozart, another outstanding personality haunted the stages of Europe with all the evocative power of which music is capable.
