This year marks the 65th anniversary of the recording of John Coltrane's only Blue Note album, "Blue Train," and the release of this complete edition, which includes seven takes, four of which have never been released before, in addition to the latest remastering. Features the high-fidelity UHQCD format. Stereo. *UHQCD (Ultimate High Quality CD) is an upgraded version of HQCD, a high fidelity CD format developed by Memory-Tech.

Original session recorded on September 15, 1957. In jewel case with clear flip tray and obi. Sixteen page illustrated booklet includes 1957 and 2022 liner notes in English. An additional sixteen page b/w booklet includes a translation of both sets of notes and a further set in Japanese. A single sided UHQCD insert is also included. "New Music Fridays" sticker to shrink wrap. Customers at Amazon Japan could opt to receive a 240 x 240mm digital print of the album cover. Technical Notes on the Alternate Masters: Blue Note take numbers are sequential to the session: Take 1 is the first take of the session, take 8 is the 8th take of the session, etc. There is a very clumsy apparent splice during take 4 of Moment's Notice. During take 5a of Moment's Notice, the tape abruptly runs out at the end. Kenny Drew's piano solo on Blue Train (Take 8) was edited into the master Take 9. For the alternate master Take 8 of Blue Train, we carefully edited the piano solo back into its original spot to cut the lacquer, before returning it to the Take 9 master.
